Imagine such a category! I learned about this after purchasing a copy of “Ouma’s Cookery Book” during a visit to the homestead of General Jan Christian Smuts in Pretoria, South Africa in the late 1980’s. Besides being a military statesman who was responsible for drafting the constitution of the League of Nations, which preceded the United Nations, Smuts was quite the botanist. I was looking for herbs and various plant components used to treat nausea and vomiting. Besides collecting botanical references, I collect cookbooks for this reason. It seems it was the custom to include recipes for food and beverage suggestions to nourish ailing family members. There is no mention however which concoctions were the most successful for treating what ailment. The use of fresh lemons is included in several of them however!
